Why Maths is so important?Maths is regarded as a vast field of knowledge which deals with numbers and symbols. As a subject Maths is very dear to some as well as some gets petrified by the very mention of its name. But still the study of the subject Maths is considered to be very important. Various concepts, logic, space, structure, change are put into the subject during the study of the same. In fact it can be said that the discipline is all behind the invention and discovery of daily life. It has its direct or indirect presence in particularly all the things that are surrounding you. The application of mathematics in every possible field makes it even more interesting. There are many students who really ponder over the question as to what joy will they derive by knowing the volume of a cube or by finding the resultant of a quadratic equation. Little do they understand that maths is a subject that will encompass the whole of their lives. They just merely aim to secure the qualifying marks in their term papers. There are also many schools which require the students to take at least one semester of maths education. The other reasons that the school and the college boards state as a consequence of a thorough comprehension of the subject are as follows: the students who are strong in the subject develop an ability to analyse and identify patterns, they also develop critical and logical thinking skills which in turn helps them in future. They are very much able to see relationships and also develop great skills in that of problem solving. The subject is seriously taken worldwide and is mainly seen as a solution to every problem. The specialised programs for Maths include General Mathematics, Number and Algebra Theory, Physical Science Diplomas, Geometry and Geometric Analysis, Statistics and so on. It is also considered to be a great honour when a student earns a degree in Maths and it is also regarded as a booming career which opens many options in the life of a student pursuing the same subject. The job options that you get after earning a Maths degree is that of a statistician, mathematician, financial analyst, operations analyst, purchasing agent and a host of others. Some of the students who share a deep passion for Maths even take teaching as a career option. The profitable career is not the only advantage of studying maths but the students who earn their degree in Maths also become great problem solvers. In fact they can deal with any situations with equal ease. Maths is a solver in every turn of life. Galileo has perfectly remarked when he said that, "The great book of nature can be read only by those who know the language in which it was written. And that language is mathematics". He also goes on to describe that maths is such a subject which helps in the process of understanding the world and its surroundings and study of the same makes us intelligent human beings. Maths will continue have its enormous impact in our lives till the end of time. |
